Hutto Middle School Chess Club
Our chess club is a combination of educational and social activity. Members come to play, learn, teach, get together with old friends, and make new ones. Students will have the opportunity to learn the following from chess: planning, problem solving, time management, self control, self esteem, patience, objectivity, math, responsibility, commitment, logic, analysis and concentration.
Club members will compete in UIL Chess Problem Solving and will have the opportunity to participate in actual over the board USCF tournaments for prizes. All of the United States Chess federation tournaments are listed in the Austin Area Chess link on this page. The club is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Meeting times are after school on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:45-4:30 unless otherwise designated.
